Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a focal point in the tech industry, and although Apple remains tight-lipped about its AI endeavors, CEO Tim Cook asserts that it plays a pivotal role in their products.

During Apple’s quarterly earnings call, reporters had the opportunity to question CEO Tim Cook and CFO Luca Maestri about the company’s performance and future direction. While some answers were brief, AI-related inquiries shed light on Apple’s stance.

Apple’s leadership was unequivocal – AI isn’t merely under development; it’s already integrated into everything they do.

Cook emphasized the significance of AI and machine learning, stating that they are fundamental technologies embedded in almost every product Apple offers. He cited examples from the release of iOS 17, highlighting features such as personal voice and live voicemail, which have AI at their core.

Later in the discussion, Cook addressed the increase in R&D spending, which included AI, silicon, and products like Apple Vision Pro.

These statements align with Apple’s previous remarks on AI. Many iOS features already leverage machine learning and AI, like the recent introduction of a transformer language model for autocorrect.

While some speculate that Apple’s AI efforts could result in a more powerful Siri, the specifics and timeline for such a project remain uncertain.
