Did you know that in 2013, when Instagram came out with the video feature, 5 million videos were uploaded within 24 hours? This social media platform is insanely popular for both photos and videos, especially since they offer you a glimpse into other people’s lives.
Sometimes, you happen upon Instagram videos that are so good that you want to keep them forever. In that case, how do you download them? Read on to find out!
Save Them to Collections
One of the easiest ways to save an IG video is to use the Collections feature!
When you’re viewing the video, check the right side, just under the video. There’s a little banner icon, which will save the video when you tap on it.
To access the saved video, go to your profile and click on “Saved” (it also has the same banner icon on the left). This should give you a list of the videos you’ve collected!
Do note that while this does save IG videos and give you easy access, this doesn’t actually save them. So if they’re ever deleted, you won’t be able to watch them. You also can’t repost to your own IG feed from here either.
How to Save Your Own Videos
If you’ve recorded something on your profile or story, and you like it so much you want to save it, it’s easy to download it to your phone!
When you’re done making the video, look at the top. In the middle, there should be an arrow pointing downward to a horizontal line. Press on it and it’ll download the video. You can then post it on your profile or story.
You can also save your own videos after you’ve already posted them. Go to your Story and click on the 3 vertical lines. Tap “Save video” and you’ll start downloading!
How to Save Other People’s Videos
The downside to IG is you can’t download other people’s videos directly. But thankfully, there are a few ways around this!
Manually Record the Instagram Videos
If you have an iPhone, open the Control Center. Tap on the record button, then “start recording”. Once it starts, you can open up IG and play the video.
When it’s done, open the Control Center again and hit the record button to stop recording.
As for Android owners, there’s no direct way to record your screen. However, downloading apps from the Play Store is possible.
Use Recording Apps
This one’s for the Android users out there! You can download Instagram videos by using getting specific apps that serve this purpose.
Just be careful; make sure they’re legitimate apps and not malware!
