Personally, I’ve faced this issue a few times, and I know just how annoying it can get. 

So, it’s only fair to share how I solved this issue and what else you can probably do to prevent it from happening in the future.

Reasons For Quickbooks Error 6130

Common causes of this error include:

• Corrupted or damaged company file.
• Incorrect file permissions on the network or workstation.
• Issues with QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
• Multi-user mode conflicts when one workstation fails to connect to the file.
• Incomplete installation of QuickBooks software.
• Corrupted Windows Registry.
• QuickBooks files might have been deleted accidentally.
• Firewall issues.
• Problematic QuickBooks updates.
• The hosting settings option is enabled on workstations.
• The QuickBooks application is not up-to-date.

How To Resolve QuickBooks Error 6130? 6 Proven Methods

This error can occur if there is an issue with the Firewall settings. 

You can check and reconfigure the settings correctly (if required). Also, ensure you have an updated version of the QuickBooks application. 

If you are still facing error 1630, try the troubleshooting methods below.

Method 1: Change The Name Of .ND And .TLG Files

To access the company file in a multi-user mode, QuickBooks needs the configuration files – Network Data (.ND) and Transaction Log (.TLG). 

If any of these files get corrupted or damaged, it can lead to 6000 series errors. You can check and recreate these files to resolve the error. 

To recreate the file, you just have to rename it. Below are the steps to do so:

• Go to the company file folder
• Search for the .TLG file (it has the same name as your company file but with .TLG extension. For instance, company_file.qbw.tlg).
• Right-click on it and click Rename.
• Next, repeat the same steps to rename the .ND file.

Method 2: Restart QuickBooksDBXX Service 

QuickBooks Database Server Manager should be installed on your server system to help you host the QuickBooks company file. 

If this service is not running, then the QuickBooks application fails to load your QBW file and throws the 6130 error. 

You can check and restart the QuickBooksDBXX service by using the following steps:

• In your system’s Start menu, type Services, and click Open.
• In the Services window, search for QuickBooksDBXX.
• Check the status if it is started or running. Click Stop and start the same.

Method 3: Close All QuickBooks Processes

You can try closing all the QuickBooks processes on the system. This may help resolve the QuickBooks error 6130 in multi-user mode. To close the processes, follow the steps given below:

• Open your server system with Administrator rights and open the Task Manager. 
• In Task Manager, click Users.

• Select each QuickBooks-related process one-by-one, such as:

• QBW32.EXE
• Qbupdate.exe
• QBDBMgr.exe
• Then, click End Task.

Launch the QuickBooks application and try to open the QBW file. If the error persists, follow the next methods.

Method 4: Check Windows Access Permissions To Share Company Files

The QuickBooks error 6130 can also occur if you don’t have permission to share the QuickBooks company file. 

To resolve this, you can check and grant the permissions to the QuickBooks company file folder by following the steps below:  

• Open the File Explorer window on your system.
• Find the folder where the company file is stored and then right-click on it.
• Click Properties, select Sharing, and then click Share Add.
• Click on the corresponding QBDataServiceUserXX for your QuickBooks version.
• Now, check and change the permission level to “Full Control.”
• Click Share.

Method 5: Check And Enable The Hosting Settings

You can get the QuickBooks error 6130 if the Host Multi-User Access option is disabled on the server system. 

Here are the steps you need to follow to enable the hosting settings on the system (hosting your company file):

• On the server system, open your QuickBooks Desktop application.
• Navigate to the File tab and then click Utilities.
• Select the Host Multi-User Access option. 

Method 6: Repair Your QuickBooks Company File

The QuickBooks error 6130 can also occur if the QuickBooks company file is corrupted or damaged. 

You can use the QuickBooks Tool Hub to repair the company file. Here’s the procedure to use it:

• First, download the latest version of QuickBooks Tool Hub.
• In Tool Hub, click Company File Issue and then click Run QuickBooks File Doctor. 
• The QuickBooks file doctor tool may take some time to open. 
• When it opens, click on the dropdown menu to choose the company file. 
• Select the option labeled “Check your file” and then click Continue.
• A window is displayed asking you to type the QuickBooks admin credentials.
• Type the correct credentials and then click the Next option.

Note: The QuickBooks file doctor tool may not resolve complex corruption-related errors. While repairing the severely damaged, large-sized company file, it may fail to respond.
